We know a lot about building communities. As members of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, we honor our ancestors by reaching out, helping our neighbors and caring for the wider community.

Through the generous donations we contribute to nonprofit organizations throughout Santa Barbara County from our Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation, we have helped build a better community by partnering with these organizations to improve the lives of community residents.

We would also like to build a stronger tribal community by providing housing for our tribal members. Because our existing reservation is too constrained to provide adequate housing to our tribal members, many live off the reservation, cut off from their community. That’s why we’ve purchased the Camp 4 parcel located just two miles from our current reservation – to meet the tribe’s need for housing. This will allow our people to live together as tribal families under our own tribal government.

As custodians of the land, we will be able to ensure that it is taken care of for generations to come.
